2016 EVHS Scholarship Winners

Hannah Walden
Hannah has been a 3-year varsity letterman and has been playing tennis for 10 years.  She is a member of the National Honor Society, Peer Assistance Leadership Services, Mu Alpha Theta Math Club, in the Top 10% of her class and was an award-winning oboe musician in the GHS Band.  She will be studying biomedical engineering at Texas A&M University and hopes to have a career in designing prosthetics in the medical industry. 

Grant Langford
Grant has been a 4-year varsity letterman and has been playing tennis for 13 years.  He is a member of the GHS Peer Assistance Leadership Services Group and the Georgetown Chamber of Commerce Junior Leadership Group.  He is a USTA Champ, a USTA Official and is a 3-time High School Regional Qualifier (was a Regional Finalist in 2012)!  He was UIL Academic All-District and has also taught kids at the Georgetown Tennis Academy.  He will be studying English at Texas State University with plans to pursue a career as a writer.

Amber Cornman
Amber has been a 4-year varsity letterman and has been playing tennis for 7 years.  She is a member of the National Honor Society & Mu Alpha Theta Math Club, in the top 10% of her class and was awarded the UIL Academic All District Award.  She is a USTA Champ, a 5A High School Regional Qualifier and plays #1 doubles.  She will be attending Texas Tech University to pursue her career goal of becoming a pharmacist after graduation. 

Ashley Brooks
Ashley has been a 4-year varsity letterman and has been playing tennis for 5 years.  She is a member of the National Honor Society, Mu Alpha Theta Math Club, Peer Assistance Leadership Services and received the UIL Academic All District Award.  She is UTSA Champ, a 5A High School Regional Qualifier and also plays Line 1 doubles.  She will be attending Blinn College initially, with her goal to attend Texas A&M University to pursue a career as an elementary school teacher after graduation. 

Justus Aarhus
Justus has been a 4-year varsity letterman and has been playing tennis for 10 years.  She is a member of the National Honor Society and the Health Occupations Students of America Club.  She is a USTA SuperChamp, and played Line 1 Singles and Line 2 Doubles for GHS and the awarded the MVP for the girls team as well.  She was a 2-year District Champion in girls singles.  She is the youngest of 4 siblings, all taught the game of tennis by their Dad.  She plans to attend Concordia University to play collegiate tennis and pursue a career in nursing after graduation.  

Danielle Halter
Danielle has been a 4-year varsity letterman and has been playing tennis for 7 years.   She is a member of the National Honor Society, the Senior Class Treasurer and a Student Council Class Representative.  She played Line 3 Singles, Line 2 Doubles and is also known at the “Team Mom.”  She will attend Texas Tech University and will major in Speech Pathology to work with both kids and adults to make a difference in their lives. 

Quincy Sorenson
Quincy has been a 4-year varsity letterman and has been playing tennis for 7 years.   He is a member of the National Honor Society and also a talented musician and singer, participating in the EVHS Marching Band, Wind Ensemble and Varsity Quartet.  He was All-District, Spanish Student of the Year and an Academic Excellent Award winner.  He played Line 1 Singles and Doubles and won a “Playback” at District to go to Regionals.  He will attend Texas A&M University this fall and will major in Chemical Engineering.

Brianna Mears
Brianna has been a 4-year varsity letterman and has been playing tennis for 7 years.   She was very active as a member of the National Honor Society, Mu Alpha Theta Math Club President, Senior Class Secretary, Varsity Track Team Member, Prom Committee Head, Rho Kappa National Social Studies Honors Society Member and an incredible Essayist as well.   She played Line 2 Doubles and Line 6 Singles, and won a Girls High School Doubles Tournament this spring.  She will attend the University of Kansas and has been accepted into their University Honors Program, studying Strategic Communications while pursing a career in marketing & advertising.
